Ijaaz Ahmed, at 2.7m tall and currently the world’s tallest man as declared
by Guinness World Records, visited Cape Town with his friends to raise
funds required for his surgery. He came to Gatesville Medical Centre for
x-rays prior to his surgery and he was warmly welcomed by all GMC staff and
management. Management made a great offer to waive all costs for his
surgery.
This brought a great smile to this gentle giant. Many of the GMC staff
and visitors were pleasantly surprised as he entered the hospital. It’s quite
hard not to be, as he is about 1m taller than the average man, and almost double
the height of our Short Staff Members (as you can see from the picture to the
right). Mr. Ismail (Melomed Head Office) saw an opportunity for
another picture and this story kept him quite occupied for a good while.
Ijaaz Ahmed is 25 years old, wears size 25 shoes, and he is from Pakistan. He
has six brothers and four sisters. He also enjoys playing basketball and says he
enjoys slam dunking the ball into the hoop - a task which most men find quite
challenging. After his surgery, he hopes that he will be able to walk without
his cane and be able to go jogging again. We hope to make his wish come true!
