SHEQ (SAFETY, HEALTH ENVIRONMENTAL & QUALITY) CO-ORDINATOR
Purpose:

To ensure that our patients and staff are provided with uncompromising quality and occupational safety services as regulated under this portfolio.


Requirements:

• SANC Registration as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar environment
• Experience in incident management processes
• Familiar with Quality Improvement processes
• Occupational Health and Safety compliance as regulated in the OHS Act No. 85 of 1993
• Knowledge of Risk focus management
• Good interpersonal, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Leadership qualities and mentoring skills
• Computer literacy is essential. Excellent MS Office computer skills, i.e. Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Key Outputs:

• Improve quality matrix in the facility
• Drive 100% reporting, compliance and prevention measures of incidents in all the different categories
• Reporting of incidents to the relevant external authorities
• Implementation of Quality Improvement Programmes
• Compliance to OHS legislation & Risk focus measures
• Departmental and facility benchmarking
• Quality review forum co-ordination
• Assist with policy implementation and compliance
• Research and Training schedule that is risk based

Unit Manager - Cath Lab

Requirements: 

Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse 
Post Basic Diploma in Critical Nursing Care General or Operating Theatre Technique or at least 3 years experience in this field  
3 years Operational Experience in the Cath Lab 
Previous experience in a management position will be advantageous 
Knowledge of the legislative and Occupational Health and Safety requirements 
Valid Drivers licence and ability to travel
Afterhours availability 
Work flexitime 
Excellent Leadership qualities and mentoring skills 
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills 
The skill to manage nursing standards and in-service training 
Maintain a professional image and character 
Accurate record keeping and the management of stock 
Commitment to initiate and implement continuous improvement projects 
Excellent MS Office computer skills, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. 
Knowledge of the Kronos System 

Key Outputs: 

Be operational as well as manage the administrative duties 
Manage and interact with Cardiologist as per operational requirements 
Management of staff 
Ensure adherence to policies and procedures at all times 
Manage staff according to the Basic Conditions of Employment and the Disciplinary Code, staff-planning and Recruitment and Selection of staff 
Manage the day to day problem solving.
Stock and equipment management including ordering of stock  
Accurate billing of stock utilised
Training and development of Cath Lab staff 
After hours cover for the group as per a roster 
Conduct regular inspections 
Maintain infection control strategies and procedures of the hospital 
Maintain health and safety principles 
Maintain and apply the required discipline 
Evaluation, intervention and resolution of patient complaints and queries 
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports 
Manage ad hoc projects as and when required

Unit Manager - Theatre

Requirements:

  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
  • Post Basic Diploma in Operating Theatre Technique
  • 5 years Operational Experience in a Theatre Unit
  • Scrub experience in Cardiothoracic Neurosurgery and or Ophthalmology will be advantageous
  • Previous experience in a management position will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of the legislative and Occupational Health and Safety requirements
  • Valid Driver’s licence and ability to travel
  • Afterhours availability – own transport
  • Work flextime
  • Excellent Leadership qualities and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • The skill to manage nursing standards and in-service training
  • Maintain a professional image and character
  • Build sound working relationships with multidisciplinary team
  • Accurate record keeping and the management of stock

  • Liaise and communicate with Surgeons

  • Manage the day to day problem solving.

  • Stock and equipment management including ordering of stock and equipment
