INFECTION PREVENTION & CONTROL CO-ORDINATOR

Purpose:

To ensure that our patients are provided with uncompromising quality service delivery under the infection prevention and control portfolio.

Requirements:

• SANC registration as a registered nurse
• Infection Prevention & Control Qualification (Certificate/Diploma)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to initiate and implement Infection prevention & control improvement programmes
• Leadership qualities and mentoring skills
• Excellent MS Office computer skills, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint

Key Outputs:

• Comply with legislation & Bylaws relating to the infection prevention & control portfolio & waste management (HCRW)
• Chair the Infection Control committee meetings monthly - Link nurses
• Member of the Antibiotic stewardship forum
• Investigation of all Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI)
• Compile & Implement disease outbreak interventions
• Review infection control practices in the hospital, simplify and streamline processes
• Assist with compiling, Implementation & compliance monitoring of IPC policies & work procedures
• Laboratory surveillance & identifying risks organisms
• Reporting of notifiable diseases to the relevant authorities
• Implementation & compliance monitoring of the relevant Best care always bundle
• Waste management operational functions 
• Conduct and manage compliance of internal and external audits
• Provide inhouse training needs in the abovementioned portfolio

Clinical Facilitator

The following position is available at Melomed Tokai:

CLINICAL FACILITATOR
PURPOSE:
To assist the hospital management team and students in the lifelong development and continuous improvement of clinical nursing skills, nursing standards and general nursing care by providing up-to-date, practical nursing education, evaluation and support, in the clinical environment.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Professional Nursing Qualification (Registered with SANC)
• Knowledge of scope of practice of all Nursing categories as well as the regulations of the SANC
• Nursing Education and/or Assessorship qualification as a recommendation
• Previous experience as an educator / facilitator / mentor would be advantageous
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to initiate and implement continuous improvement projects
• An established interest in staff development
• A critical aptitude with regard to patient quality care
• Excellent MS Office computer skills, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, Kronos, etc.
• Own transport
• Occasional night duty

Key Outputs:

• Assess staff competence according to company standards
• Plan, prepare, implement and manage the education and training requirements
• Support and facilitate staff and students to reach specific learning objectives
• Incorporate standard technology aids/tools to enhance the learning experience and to up skill learners in the use of medical equipment
• Assist with the review of all Nursing documentation as and when requested
• Implement and maintain the standard patient documentation
• Seek to create opportunities for identifying and leveraging high potential learners by setting challenging learning channels
• Take corrective measures to improve skills

SHEQ (SAFETY, HEALTH ENVIRONMENTAL & QUALITY) CO-ORDINATOR

We have the following position available at Melomed Tokai:

SHEQ (SAFETY, HEALTH ENVIRONMENTAL & QUALITY) CO-ORDINATOR
Purpose:

To ensure that our patients and staff are provided with uncompromising quality and occupational safety services as regulated under this portfolio.


Requirements:

• SANC Registration as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar environment
• Experience in incident management processes
• Familiar with Quality Improvement processes
• Occupational Health and Safety compliance as regulated in the OHS Act No. 85 of 1993
• Knowledge of Risk focus management
• Good interpersonal, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Leadership qualities and mentoring skills
• Computer literacy is essential. Excellent MS Office computer skills, i.e. Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Key Outputs:

• Improve quality matrix in the facility
• Drive 100% reporting, compliance and prevention measures of incidents in all the different categories
• Reporting of incidents to the relevant external authorities
• Implementation of Quality Improvement Programmes
• Compliance to OHS legislation & Risk focus measures
• Departmental and facility benchmarking
• Quality review forum co-ordination
• Assist with policy implementation and compliance
• Research and Training schedule that is risk based

Nursing Services Manager

Requirements:

Qualified Professional Nurse
A postgraduate qualification is required
A post graduate diploma / degree in Nursing Management is advantageous
At least five years relevant experience in a nurse management position
Registration with SANC and proof of indemnity cover are pre - requisites
A pleasant disposition and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are vital
Excellent leadership abilities
Excellent computer skills

Key Outputs:

Manage the total quality of the nursing care of the hospital
Manage all administrative policies, procedures and protocols that support the nursing services
Manage Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Risk principles
Develop the nursing staff and recognise the diverse contributions of these individuals and their teams
Ensure a positive working environment conducive to Continuous Professional Development
Monitor staffing levels based on departmental acuity levels
Oversee, review and update nursing policies and procedures
Oversee the adherence of all nursing statutory requirements
Provide a daily hospital report
Report all hospital issues to the Hospital Manager and the Executives
Develop, implement and evaluate the nursing strategic plans and sub-unit strategic plans in correlation to the Group Business Plan
Oversee a monthly clinical audit meeting with the Unit Managers
Attend to ad hoc queries and meetings
